The Many Benefits of Blueberries for Menopause

Mood Improvement: Researchers have found that there is a natural boost in mood about two hours after consuming blueberries. The possible causes for the enhanced mood may be an increase in cerebral blood flow, an increase in an enzyme involved in serotonin, dopamine, and noradrenaline metabolism.
Bone health: researchers have found that the cause of bone loss post menopause is caused by decreasing levels of collagen and SIRT1, an anti-aging gene that controls cell aging and cell death rate. The polyphenols found in blueberries can stimulate bone growth and delay bone loss when the loss of sex hormones starts to accelerate this process.
Cardiovascular Benefits: Post menopausal women have an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and a daily cup of blueberries was shown to have a positive effect on arterial flexibility in a double blind study.
